Glenfiddich’s Experimental Series, A Whisky Experiment

Renowned single malt Scotch whisky brand Glenfiddich has broken new ground in whisky making with its Experimental Series, comprising a range of innovative single malts that strays away from the norm.

The series kicks off with two releases—Glenfiddich IPA Experiment and Project XX (pronounced ‘20’). The Glenfiddich IPA Experiment ($81) is the first single malt Scotch whisky to be finished in India Pale Ale (IPA) beer casks.

One the nose, it has a sweet vanilla and green apple scent, while carrying the familiar whisky flavours of citrus and hops.

On the other hand, Project XX ($90) is borne of a collaboration between 20 whisky experts from 16 countries worldwide—hence the name.

It offers a bouquet of summer fruit and creamy vanilla laced with liquorice and spices on the nose. Taste-wise, it begins with a candy floss sweetness that is mellowed by flavours of toasted almonds and cinnamon.
