Relive the 1960s at Republic Lounge and Bar

An ode to the seismic culture shifts of the sixties, Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore’s new lounge and bar promises a history lesson in each tipple.

Now a cohesive space partitioned by floor-to-ceiling mirrored doors, the sprawling East Wing at the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore has undergone a massive overhaul by New York based tonychi studio. Comprising three distinct sections – a Library Reception and Republic lounge and bar – the palatial wing is a day-to-night journey that eases back on showy furnishings to let the hotel’s grandeur speak for itself.

Republic is the hotel’s novel F&B concept that encourages a leisurely drink no matter the time of day. Enter from the lounge, where you get to recline in wide leather armchairs for afternoon tea or choose your own sweets and pastries from the four display cabinets. Next door at the bar, however, is where most of the action happens.

Dressed in dark reds and shades of wood, the bar takes inspiration from highlights in the 1960s in four countries – Italy, Singapore, United Kingdom, and the United States of America. Key moments in history from these countries are represented by four mirrored pillars in the room and the cocktails conceived by Proof & Company.

Each country is afforded five cocktails that pay homage to various milestones in art, food, fashion, sports, and automotive plus a vintage spirit bottled in the same era. The tropical Timeless Beauty with Monkey Shoulder whisky, pineapple juice and earl grey tea, for example, is inspired by the iconic Singapore Airlines sarong kebaya. While Satisfaction, a concoction of Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition, Irish stout reduction, coffee and cream is a nod to the heyday of rock & roll.

Republic is located at 7 Raffles Avenue, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, Singapore 039799. Opening hours are from 12pm to 11pm daily.
