Helmed by executive chef Fung Chi Keung, Kai Garden in Marina Square dishes out Cantonese cuisine with a modern flair.
No meal here is complete without their signature crispy Peking duck, a glistening temptation with its glossy skin, thin layer of marbled fat, and tender meat. Attentive service staff will serve you the crispy duck skin, best enjoyed with accompanying rice crackers and dipping sauces, while the chef would recommend you savour the rest of the duck re-fried and served with mantou (Chinese buns).
Live fish is another mainstay at Cantonese restaurants, and chef Fung gives his own modern twist to the dish by cooking live garoupa with lobster in two different styles. The first showcases a rich, umami lobster broth packed with fresh garoupa slices. When you’re done sipping on the tasty soup, dig into the crispy fried fish slices that are a great textural contrast.
With its chic decor and bright lighting, dining at Kai Garden is certainly an experience to be shared with friends. You’ll want to get your cameras ready for the sweet and sour pork dish, too. The traditional dish is served chilled, meatball-style, and lacquered with a gorgeous, glistening red sauce that makes for a pretty picture.
