There’s no need for fuss and frills at My Little Spanish Place, where the food is unpretentious and the service amiable. Tucked away along Bukit Timah Road, the space is warmly-lit, with plush seats that you can sink into with a delighted sigh to rest your weary feet. There’s also a cosy outdoor area for cool nights where you can sit with a glass or two of sangria in hand.
Start with the platter of five cured hams—the six-year-old aged Ibérico is particularly savoury and well-marbled. Also good here are the croquettes, stuffed with creamy cod or the classic ham and cheese, as well as the clams cooked in white wine, garlic and butter. Share the grilled octopus leg that is delightfully tender and the house paella cooked in seafood broth—the latter showcases al dente grains full of flavour, with generous chunks of squid, fish, prawns and mussels. For drinks, the white and red sangrias by the glass are delicious, fruity concoctions.
