This family-owned microbrewery and restaurant is more than just a hipster outfit. Step in and you’ll find good beers paired with dishes inspired by the owners’ Teochew heritage.
Start with the beer snacks (deep-fried and deliciously salty), such as fried lotus chips and chicken skin generously seasoned with spice. The seasonal selection includes dishes like Chaoshan braised duck breast with chilli and aged braising sauce—delicate and full of flavour. The Chaoshan Ceviche is similarly enticing–an elegant yet punchy take on the South American classic. If you’re sharing, try their rice dishes. The signature Teochew fish porridge is a warming bowl with intriguing flavour, and pairs beautifully with the earl grey notes in the Dragon Pheonix saison on tap. Ask the laid back staff for other beer (or wine) pairing recommendations with the food.
The restaurant also serves Teochew-style omakase upon pre-orders. End with a glorious iteration of everyone’s favourite tiramisu, made with layers of mascarpone, espresso and Patrón XO Cafe (coffee-infused tequila). Or, head back to the bar for another glass of those tempting brews.
