Opened in November 2015 by the group behind Department of Caffeine and 2degrees North Coffee Co., The Populus Coffee & Food Co along Neil Road has become a fixture in Singapore’s cafe scene.
Well-loved for its wholesome and hearty brunch dishes served in an unpretentious and cosy setting, the menu offers a good selection of sweet and savoury dishes like buckwheat pancakes served with berry fruit compote, passionfruit curd, cornflake crumb and thyme infused maple syrup. There’s also heartier dishes such as a luscious seafood linguine, featuring pasta cooked to al dente perfection, tossed in homemade seafood bisque and served with crab meat, scallops and butter-poached Boston lobster tail.
For those who prefer healthier options, try the grain bowls—the wagyu beef grain bowl, in particular, promises a good time with tender slices of thyme-seared wagyu lying on a bed of quinoa, bulgar wheat and pearl barley. Save some space for desserts—the dark chocolate sundae and sticky date pudding are crowd pleasers that are sure to hit the spot.
