Set in a two-storey British military airbase-turned-heritage-building in Seletar Aerospace Park, Wheeler’s Estate boasts a strong lineup of brunch favourites.
Take for instance the crab benedict, a twist on the usual breakfast classic. Here, the wobbly poached eggs are topped with chunks of fresh, sweet crab meat, sandwiched perfectly in a buttery croissant with lashings of hollandaise sauce.
In the mood for something more lunch than brunch? Go with the grilled octopus; a tender, juicy tentacle that is given a fragrant kick with garlic crumbs and a punchy cranberry vinaigrette. The linguini lobster is also highly recommended. A half lobster is served with San Marzano tomatoes, fresh basil and garlic crumbs, and the tomato-based pasta is flavourful.
Though the area might be off the beaten track, Wheeler’s Estate compound more than makes up for the trek over. The spacious verandah is a great spot to enjoy the fresh air away from the city, while you watch pet dogs tumble around on the lawn. Make the trip down—it’s well worth the effort.
